Giving students the opportunity to reflect on those that have fought for our country and those that continue to do so, this week of activity will comprise a selection of arts-based workshops on site at the Arboretum and in schools.
Perfect for: Key Stage 2
Students will take part in two indoor workshops to learn more about the Holocaust, and explore our memorials to discover the importance of Remembrance. The day will also include an Act of Remembrance in the chapel.
Perfect for: Upper Key Stage 2
Centring around Julia Donaldsons ‘The Stick Man’, we are encouraging students to develop a love of reading and stories. During the day schools can explore our new Stick Man trail to discover some of the other characters in the book, and use natural materials on site for children to make their very own stick characters!
Perfect for: Reception and Lower Key Stage 1
Discover the narratives of remarkable women by delving into the stories behind the memorials. Through hands-on workshops and engaging discussions the students will explore the attributes and aptitudes that defined these women and enable them to identify their own skills and qualities.
Perfect for: Girls in School Years 6 and 7
Discover the importance of protecting the natural world by visiting the Arboretum this Earth Day. Students can draw upon their craft skills to create seedballs and bug hotels to increase biodiversity on their own green spaces.
Perfect for: Key Stage 2
Together with Royal British Legion, students will take part in a series of interactive indoor and outdoor activities before ending the day with a collective Act of Remembrance.
