There are lots of ways to get involved with the National Memorial Arboretum, from volunteer roles to paid positions.

 

We are currently recruiting for the following positions:

Events Officer, Maternity Cover

Full Time

Salary | £25,813 - £26,550 | 12 Month FTC | 35 hours per week

As an Events Officer you will be responsible for being one of the initial points of contact with external clients, organising and delivering events and functions for the Arboretum, whilst building strong relationships with stakeholders to maximise revenue generation for events and functions at the Arboretum.

If successful, the main duties of your role will be: 

To lead on the planning and delivery of specific Arboretum Events, supported by the Events Manager

To project manage a range of client led events including, managing and overseeing the scheduling of events and functions in the Arboretums events diary and working closely with all internal departments and the Events Manager to communicate event plans and ensure minimum impact on the operation of the Arboretum.

To manage the workload and direct the activity of the Events Coordinator and Events Supervisor.

To carefully control budgets for each event where the Officer is lead and report on this at regular intervals to the Event Manager.

To lead internal and external meetings relevant to the specific Events for which the Officer is lead.

Support the Events Manager in organising the operational and logistical delivery of a range of internal, corporate and remembrance events as well as any ad hoc use of the Arboretum.

To act as one of the principal points of contact for events.

Assist the Events Manager in delivering all major events.

Attend early morning, evening and weekend events as and when required.

Deputise in the absence of the Events Manager

Marketing Assistant

Full Time

Salary | £21,000 per annum

 

As Marketing Assistant, you will support the Marketing & Business Development team in achieving projected visitor numbers, ticket sales, group and corporate package sales, individual donations and enhanced visitor engagement through the successful delivery of campaign and communication projects.  You will have experience of working in a customer facing environment, enjoy working as part of a team, have excellent attention to detail, and have a good working knowledge of mainstream social media channels. 


If successful, the main duties of your role will be: 

Supporting the department in the creation of marketing campaigns including liaising with suppliers, writing copy and acting as a custodian of the Arboretum’s brand.

Monitoring the Arboretum’s social platforms and responding to comments, reviews and messages on a daily basis, liaising with other team members, including the external PR agency as required.

Provide administration for the Arboretum’s Friends scheme, to include: processing memberships and renewals alongside our Friends membership volunteer, mailings, and support the Marketing Manager in the production and delivery of the thrice yearly Memo publication and Friends events.

Provide administration for the Arboretum’s fundraising activities, including responding to enquiries, writing thank you letters and keeping accurate records.

To support the Group Sales and Bookings Coordinator by responding to and processing inbound group booking enquiries.

    Heritage Engagement Co-ordinator

    Full Time

    Salary | £21,825 per annum FTE pro rata | FTC until 29 October 2023, Part Time, 28 hours per week.

    In partnership with the National Forest Company, Westminster Abbey, and ArtReach, the National Memorial Arboretum is producing a nationwide community engagement programme exploring communities’ experience of the pandemic and their engagement with local heritage landscapes.  

    The programme, being supported by the National Lottery Heritage Fund, will include four localised artist-led community engagement projects and a nationwide community engagement project. It will enable meaningful engagement with diverse communities, through which we will; inspire remembrance; enable learning; support those living with the impacts of the pandemic; encourage sustained engagement with local outdoor heritage; and create a nationally significant archive of community stories.  

    The Heritage Engagement Coordinator will provide support across the community engagement programme and will undertake marketing activity to ensure widespread participation.   

    Based at the National Memorial Arboretum, they will support project collaborators in designing community engagement projects and will be responsible for administration throughout their delivery. This will include coordinating a small team of volunteers assisting in project delivery and archiving.  

    If successful, the main duties of your role will be: 

    Supporting the Heritage Project Manager and project partners in developing and commissioning artist-led engagement projects with local communities and workshop resources to engage communities across the country.  

    Undertake administration to support the efficient management of engagement projects ensuring that activity is delivered on time and to budget.  

    Work with the Arboretum’s Marketing and Business Development team to implement marketing and communications activity to ensure widespread awareness of engagement projects. 

    Coordinate project volunteers using the Arboretum’s volunteer management system. 

    Administer and maintain the project digital archive.

    Arboretum Chef preparing food in Aspects kitchen

    Sous Chef

     

    Full Time | 40 hours per week, on 5 days out of 7 basis

    Salary | £27,030 to £28,416 (including Market supplement of £2,087)

     

    As a Sous Chef you will be responsible for operating within two full-production kitchens within two separate buildings (Remembrance and Aspects) to supply catering across multiple outlets including 380 cover self-serve restaurant, table waited event space for up to 500, coffee shop and ‘pop up Foodservice outlets within the grounds of the Arboretum.

    Kitchen Porter

     

    Full Time

    Salary | £20,155 pro rata per annum

     

     

    As a Kitchen Porter you will be responsible for assisting in the cleaning of all cooking and restaurant equipment, crockery, cutlery and pots and ensuring that deliveries are correctly received and that food items are stored in the correct manner.

    You will operate within two full-production kitchens within two separate buildings, including self-serve 380 cover restaurant, purpose built events building hosting functions of up to 500, coffee shop and ‘pop up’ Foodservice outlets within the grounds of the Arboretum.
