Work at the Arboretum

We are open to pre-booked visitors

The National Memorial Arboretum is open to pre-booked visitors. Tickets are released each Thursday and can be booked up to 2 weeks in advance. People visiting the Arboretum must follow the latest government guidance relating to travel and social distancing, and anyone advised to self-isolate should not visit the site at this time.

Access to the Arboretum will be via the Remembrance Centre where our visitor toilets are available. The Chapel, Far East Prisoners of War Memorial Building and Shop are now open. We also have indoor seating available in our Restaurant, as well as the outdoor takeaway service from our Coffee Shop.

 

We are legally obliged to ask all visitors over the age of 16 to either check in with the NHS Test and Trace App or to provide contact details upon arrival.

Sous Chef

Salary: £23,657.14 per annum
Package: Permanent, Full time 40 hours per week

The Role

We are looking to recruit a Sous chef to work with our excellent team providing first class service to our range of outlets including our self-serve 380 cover restaurant, table waited functions room up to 500, coffee shop, ‘pop up’ Foodservice outlets within the grounds of the Arboretum and hospitality.    

You will work with the Executive Head Chef to prepare and deliver high standards of food quality, cleanliness and presentation, together with planning menus and stock control.  You will supervise the kitchen staff on a daily basis and ensure that the kitchen operates in an efficient and effective manner 

You must have catering qualifications together with experience, of high-class conference and banqueting with a proven knowledge of rational. Working in a busy kitchen, good interpersonal and communication skills are essential together with the ability to work under pressure. 

This role requires weekend and bank holiday working on a regular basis and some evening work to support Arboretum events.

We are looking to recruit a Foodservice assistant, working on average either 20 or 30 hours a week to work alongside the established team. Reporting to the Foodservices Manager, key responsibilities include:

  • To deliver high standards of customer service, food quality, cleanliness and presentation standards as laid out in the Foodservice Strategy.
  • Support all areas of activity within the foodservice department to supply visitor day catering, which includes a 380 cover Restaurant, a Coffee Shop and satellite outlets within the grounds of the Arboretum. 
  • To be part of the hospitality team for table waited functions in the Aspects events building. Which holds daytime and evening events catering up to and including formal banqueting for up to 500 attendees.

The successful candidate must have proven foodservice experience, good interpersonal and communication skills are essential together with the ability to work under pressure.

This role requires weekend and bank holiday working and some evening work to support Arboretum events.
