We have 150-acres of woodlands, memorials and gardens to explore. Here’s some suggestions of how you can get the most from your visit to the Arboretum:

Daily Act of Remembrance

Participate in an Act of Remembrance and observe a moving two-minute silence in our Millennium Chapel. It is appreciated if visitors are seated by 10.50am in the Chapel for the consideration of others. Millennium Chapel – 11am - Free

Living Remembrance Talk

Join one of our guides to hear the history of the Arboretum, our future plans and what's new to see around our grounds. Please speak to our Welcome Desk team for our daily Living Remembrance talk timings. 

Guided Walks

Join one of our expert volunteer guides on a walk to discover the stories behind some of our memorials.

45 minutes. £5 Adult. Under 16s free. From 11.15am. Please book at the Welcome Desk. Guided Walks are subject to availability. 

 

Far East Prisoners of War Memorial Building

Far East Prisoners Of War Talk

During the Second World War fighting in the Far East was brutal and conditions were unimaginable. Those taken as prisoners of war experienced harsh treatment and many never returned home. Join one of our volunteers outside the Far East Prisoners of War Memorial Building to hear about the men and women who served in this region and how their contribution resulted in Victory over Japan in 1945. Armed Forces Memorial Talk

The Armed Forces Memorial is a nationally-significant focus for Remembrance, providing recognition and thanks for those who have given their lives in the service of their country since the end of the Second World War. Learn more about this moving monument and the symbolism in its design.

Shot At Dawn Talk

This moving talk highlights the story of the 309 soldiers shot at Dawn during the First World War who were later posthumously pardoned. Shot at Dawn Memorial – Free

Land Train Tours

Complete with pre-recorded commentary, the Arboretum’s land train is the perfect way to discover the stories behind many of our fascinating memorials. Ideal for first time visitors, the land train tour takes 50 minutes and is accessible for manual wheel chair users.

£7.50 adults

£3.75 children (6 - 16 years)

Under 5s are free

£19.00 Family (max. 2 adults, max. 5 persons)

 

Our land trains run regularly throughout the day between February and December, please speak to our team at the Welcome Desk for our daily timetable. Please note our Land Train does not operate between 2 January and 15 February. 

Only assistance dogs are permitted on the Land Train.

Buggy Tours

Special Forces Buggy Tour

Our 150-acre site is full of treasures waiting to be discovered, although some of these are a distance from our Remembrance Centre. Join one of our expert volunteer guides on a buggy tour to ensure you don’t miss out on visiting Watersmeet, the Christmas Truce Memorial, the Allied Special Forces Memorial Grove and many more. 

 

40 minutes. £7.50 adult, £3.75 children (6-16 years), under 5s free. Special Forces Buggy Tours are subject to availability. 

Buggy Tour

Tailor-made Tours

Our Tailor-made Tours are ideal for groups of up to seven people and make a great gift. We'll provide an experienced volunteer guide as your personal host for the day as well as a mouth-watering two course lunch in our restaurant. From the comfort of an electric buggy, you will be able to explore the Arboretum at your leisure and hear some of the fascinating stories behind the memorials.

Maps

The grounds of the Arboretum are expansive and feature over 400 memorials. A Map of the Arboretum is available to collect upon arrival at the Welcome Desk for a small donation.
