Our Key Stage 1 offer has a range of engaging activities that have been designed to suit the needs of your school. They are appropriate for the age and ability of students lasting from 30 minutes through to a full day. All programmes connect with students and give them the opportunity to explore Remembrance from a young age.

This activity ensures that students learn about the symbolism behind a variety of medals, not just military but ones they might find in civilian life too. Discussion work and the sharing of thoughts and ideas, alongside themes of British values and public service, run throughout. The activity culminates in students designing their own medals to present to someone who has had a positive effect on their lives.

Our interactive guided tours are led by specially trained Learning Guides who are adept at engaging with our younger visitors. They encompass several emotive and symbolic memorials from civilian groups as well as military associations. Our guided tours can be tailored to your group, please specify areas of interest on your booking form.

This is a thought-provoking interactive session that allows participants to develop an understanding of the historic and symbolic significance of the poppy, whilst promoting British Values and respect when learning about Remembrance.
£60 per 25 participants
Using makaton signs and simple sentences this activity enables children to consider who, why and when we remember. We use a simple reading to accompany this activity but groups may personalise the act with their own readings, poems and songs if they wish.
£50 per 25 participants
Groups are welcome to visit the site and deliver their own activities. Visits can include self-led tours of the Arboretum and exploration of our free exhibitions, including Landscapes of Life.
