From outdoor trails to arts and crafts and storytelling, there is something for all ages to enjoy this October.
Pick up a trail sheet from our welcome desk and head out around site to find our pinecone friends!
Can you spot our friends and find out what jobs they’re doing to keep our site beautiful as the weather changes? Once you have found them all, head back to the Remembrance centre to collect your prize.

Join Cora the adventurous little squirrel as she discovers the magic and mysteries of the forest, where the trees are guardians of stories.

Make your own pinecone friend using a range of colourful materials and pinecones collected from around the Arboretum, or if you’d like to get planting, we invite you to plant acorns which you can watch grow at home.
For those lovers of art, create your own piece of colourful autumnal art inspired by artist Andy Goldsworthy, or contribute to our large-scale art project Canopy of a Thousand Stars, which will be displayed here at the Arboretum over Illuminated Arboretum.

Our youngest visitors will enjoy joining Stick Man on his journey back to the family tree. You can pick up a free copy of the self-led trail from our Welcome Desk.
Here at the Arboretum, we have two outdoor play areas available for young visitors to enjoy. Our Children’s Sensory Play Garden can be found near to the Remembrance Centre. A second children’s play area, with a picnic area, can be found further into the Arboretum grounds.
Please note: only assistance dogs are permitted within our Children's Play Areas.
