On Sunday 8 November we will be joining the rest of the country in remembering those who have served and sacrificed, during our annual Remembrance Sunday Service.

The Service is free to attend, and will take place at the base of the Armed Forces Memorial. The Service will also be relayed on a large screen in Heroes' Square. 

The Arboretum will be open from 8am to welcome visitors to our grounds. 

Please note the Armed Forces Memorial will be closed until after the Service of Remembrance concludes. 

Parking

We strongly recommend booking your car parking space in advance to guarantee entry ahead of our Remembrance Sunday Service, as only limited parking spaces are available and may become fully booked. 

 

Everyone with a pre-booked parking space for the 8am to 10am slots will be admitted entry to the Arboretum grounds in time for the service to begin. Please have your parking ticket confirmation to hand upon arrival in our car park to ensure you have the swiftest arrival experience.

Booking In Advance and Parking

Do I need to book in advance to visit on Remembrance Sunday?

We are anticipating a very busy day at the Arboretum, as thousands of people gather to pay their respects at the nation's year-round place to remember.

 

We strongly recommend booking your car parking space in advance to guarantee entry ahead of our Remembrance Sunday service, as only limited parking spaces are available and may become fully booked. 


Can I arrive before or after my booked ticket arrival time?

We are expecting large volumes of visitors on Remembrance Sunday. To help ensure that visitors are able to enter our site as quickly as possible we're asking all visitors to arrive in their allocated time slot. 

 

Everyone with a pre-booked parking space for the 8am to 10am slots will be admitted entry to the Arboretum grounds in time for the service to begin. Please have your parking ticket confirmation to hand upon arrival in our car park to ensure you have the swiftest arrival experience. 

I have lost my confirmation email is it possible to receive this again?

If you are no longer able to find your parking confirmation email please email info@thenma.org.uk, indicating your arrival time slot and the name under which your booking was made and our team will aim to resend your confirmation email.

Queries that arrive outside of our opening hours will not be picked up until the next working day. 

I don't have a printer can I show my parking confirmation on my phone?
To help our team ensure we are quickly able to welcome visitors to site please ensure that you have your booking confirmation letter ready to present to our team, either on a phone or paper prior to arrival at the Arboretum.
I have booked multiple tickets, will the other members of my party need a confirmation email?
If you have made a booking for multiple vehicles, please ensure that the other members of your party are made aware of your booking reference number and the name under which the booking was made, ready to present to our Car Parking Team on arrival.
Where will I be required to park?

We will be utilising all of our parking areas on Remembrance Sunday. Please follow the instructions of our parking attendants on duty who direct you to a parking area.

If you have booked accessible parking, please let our Car Parking Team know upon arrival.

I have a blue badge where will I be required to park?

On Remembrance Sunday, Car Park A, next to the Remembrance Centre, will be made available to blue badge holders. To book an accessible parking ticket ahead of your visit please visit our book tickets page.  

A pick-up/drop-off point is also available close to the Remembrance Centre. Please follow the instructions of our parking attendants on duty. 

Can I book a mobility scooter or wheelchair?

The Arboretum has a limited number of both manual wheelchairs (available by donation) and motorised scooters (£10 per day) both can be booked by calling 01283 245 100 ahead of your visit to the Arboretum.  

On The Day

What time will the Arboretum open on Remembrance Sunday?

The Remembrance Centre will open at 8am on Remembrance Sunday. 

 

Please ensure that you arrive within the time slot booked. We recommend booking either the 8am, 9am or 10am arrival slot if you wish to arrive in time for our Service of Remembrance. 

Will the Daily Act of Remembrance take place on Remembrance Sunday?
Our 11am Daily Act of Remembrance will not take place in the Millennium Chapel on Remembrance Sunday, due to the larger Remembrance Service taking place outdoors. 
Will the service go ahead in inclement weather?

The Remembrance Sunday service will take place in the event of inclement weather.

We are an outdoor site, we recommend that our visitors dress appropriately for the expected outdoor weather and temperature.

What time will the service begin?

The Remembrance Sunday service will begin from 10.40am. If you wish to join us for the service we recommend booking either the 8am, 9am or 10am arrival slot online. Please ensure you arrive within your booked time slot. 

We are expecting a large number of visitors onsite on Remembrance Sunday ticket holders are advised to allow more travel time than normal when planning their journeys. 

Can I purchase a wreath and floral tribute to lay during the serivce?

Wreaths and individual tokens of Remembrance, such as fresh flowers (removed from any plastic wrapping) or poppy tributes, may be laid after the service has ended and the Armed Forces Memorial has re-opened to the public. You are also welcome to lay your tributes at any of our other memorials throughout the day. 

Poppy tributes are available to purchase within the Remembrance Centre.

If you would like to order a wreath, at a cost of £20 (plain) or £23.50 (personalised) please call 01283 245 100. Wreaths will be made available for collection on the day of the event. 

Will I be able to visit the Armed Forces Memorial?
The Armed Forces Memorial will be closed to the general public until after the Remembrance Sunday Service. Our team will ensure that any infrastructure used during the event is cleared as soon as possible following the service. 
Can I watch the service from home?
We will not be live-streaming this event online, however there will be a screen available in Heroes' Square if you wish to watch the service away from the larger crowd. 
Will there be a parade on Remembrance Sunday?
We will not be hosting a parade on site at the Arboretum on Remembrance Sunday. 
Can I display my Standard on Remembrance Sunday?
We are not able to accept any additional standards beyond those already planned and incorporated into the official Remembrance Sunday Service.
