Visiting Us

We are currently experiencing flooding in parts of the Arboretum. If you wish to visit a specific areas of site please talk to a member of the team, who can advise the best route.


The National Memorial Arboretum will remain open to pre-booked visitors from the local area for outdoor exercise following the introduction of new national coronavirus restrictions from Tuesday 5th January. People visiting the Arboretum must follow the latest government guidance and anyone advised to self-isolate or shield should not visit the site at this time.

Access to the Arboretum will be via the Remembrance Centre where our visitor toilets remain available. A limited take-away service is available from our Coffee Shop kiosk.

We are currently unable to offer dine-in options in our Restaurant and our talks and tours are unavailable. Our Gift Shop is closed.

The National Memorial Arboretum remains open to pre-booked visitors, however the number of visitors permitted access each day will continue to be regulated, and will be by pre-booked ticket only.

Access to the Arboretum will be via the Remembrance Centre and our visitor toilets there remain available. The new restrictions mean that our Shop is closed and we are currently not able to offer dine-in options in our Restaurant, instead a limited range of take-away food and drink are available from our Coffee Shop kiosk.

We are currently unable to offer guided walks, talks and our land train service.

Although we are eager to welcome you back to the Arboretum, please do not visit if you are required to remain in isolation due to current Government guidelines.

We ask that all visitors planning to visit the Arboretum adhere to government advice and guidance relating to travel. Further detailed information can be found on 

Arrival and Parking

Your tickets will be checked upon arrival at the car park by a member of our team who will direct you to a parking space. The gates of our car park will remain closed until shortly before our site opens at 10am. We ask that you do not arrive before your allotted time in order to assist with parking arrangements. Please do not park or wait on the road outside the Arboretum as this poses a hazard and has the potential to cause an accident. Please ensure you have your confirmation ready to present before you enter our car park. 

Vehicles unable to present a booking confirmation will be unable to park and you will not be able to gain entry to site.

During Your Visit 

All visitors, including dog walkers, are required to enter our site through the Remembrance Centre.  In line with Government legislation, we ask all visitors to wear masks in all indoor spaces.

Once you have entered our site you will be able to remain in our grounds until they close.

Our indoor areas including our Shop, Restaurant, Exhibitions, Millennium Chapel and Far East Prisoners of War building remain closed at this time.

The Coffee Shop, located in Heroes' Square, will be providing a limited takeaway service. We are currently unable to offer seating in our Coffee Shop or Heroes' Square areas so takeaway options should be enjoyed in our grounds.

The Armed Forces Memorial will be open though some additional measures have been put into place to regulate the numbers of people visiting the memorial


Our grounds close daily at 4pm. Please exit our grounds and Remembrance Centre as directed.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are you open to visit?

The National Memorial Arboretum is open to pre-booked visitors between 10am and 4pm daily.

All visitors are required to pre-book online where their details will be recorded for NHS Test and Trace purposes. Capacity to the Arboretum is limited and visitors who have not pre-registered will not be admitted.

We encourage you to check current Government guidance and restrictions before you travel.

How do I book?

Please follow the link to our bookings page to arrange your visit. We advise you to read the .gov guidance on meeting others safely.

Are the toilets open?

The toilets in the Remembrance Centre are open.

Is the Gift Shop open?

The Arboretum's Gift Shop is currently not open, however we do have a small range of products available online.

Is the Coffee Shop or Restaurant open?

Our Restaurant is closed although we are able to offer a limited take-away service from our Coffee Shop kiosk. There will be no indoor or outdoor seating in Heroes’ Square.

You are welcome to bring your own food and drink and we have several areas where you can enjoy a picnic. Please note that naked flames, BBQs and gas stoves are not permitted, and we would be grateful if you would deposit your litter in the bins available.

Will the Daily Act of Remembrance still take place?

The Daily Act of Remembrance will, for a time, take place behind closed doors in the Chapel with no visitors present, in line with current government restrictions.

The Arboretum is a place for reflection and we encourage you to take a moment to reflect within our grounds if and when you feel it’s appropriate.

Is the Land Train running?

The Land Train is not running at this time.

Are the play areas still open?

Our play areas are open for our young visitors to enjoy. 

Can we still do the Stick Man Trail?

Though Stick Man remains in our grounds we are currently unable to provide printed copies of the Stick Man trail. 

Can you lay a wreath on my behalf?

Our team onsite would be honoured to lay a wreath on your behalf at a memorial, tree or plaque of your choice. For more information visit our Wreath Laying Service page.

Can I attend with a group?

We regret we cannot accept group visits at this time, due to current Government guidelines on outdoor meetings. If you would like to book a visit for a future date please call our groups team on 01283 245 100.

Can I hire a Mobility Scooter or Wheelchair?

We are currently unable to offer for hire mobility scooters and wheelchairs.

Can I buy a guidebook?

Copies of our guidebook cannot currently be purchased from our Shop, which is closed due to Government guidelines. Visitors can still purchase guidebooks via our online Amazon store.
